The subject covers in particular integrated regional planning and rural development, and the spatial analysis of structure and changes over time in socio-economical & ecological context by Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
The educational and professional background contains:
Studies in Geography and Development Economics at the University of Heidelberg/Germany from 1984 to 1991, including one year of studies in applied geography and regional planning at the University of Ibadan/Nigeria (1988/89).
Diploma in Geography with special reference to develop- ment studies in 1991 (University of Heidelberg/Germany).
From 1992 to 2001 Research Fellow for rural development and regional planning projects in West Africa (Universities of Heidelberg and Frankfurt Main/Germany in cooperation with the Nigerian universities at Ibadan, Calabar, Akure and Maiduguri).
PhD in Geography in 1996 (University of Heidelberg/Ger- many). Thesis: Income structure of smallholder households in the densely populated hinterland of Uyo, SE-Nigeria.
Since 2001 assignments as Team Leader and Expert/ Advisor of technical assistance projects on regional planning and rural development regarding agriculture, population/ demography, markets & household income, food supply & value chain, transport, and REDD+ & climate change in West- and East Africa (Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone & Sudan).
